Program information

Working with community-based organizations, King County will be distributing federal funds for need-based rental assistance to tenants in the county. This grant is intended to prevent evictions by paying past due and future rent. We will distribute funds equitably and will target limited resources to those with the greatest needs.

We are currently accepting applications from eligible landlords and authorized representatives. Tenants will be able to apply for assistance after May 17th. More details will be provided at that time.

Landlords and authorized representatives

If you agree with the landlord requirements and have 5 or more qualifying households, you may register, either as a landlord or on behalf of a landlord. After registration, you will be asked to add property and tenant information.

Household eligibility

An “eligible household” is defined as a renter household where at least one or more individuals meets the following criteria:

  • Residence within the King County geographical area
  • A lease; or proof of regular recurring rent payments
  • Household income at or below 50% of Area Median Income; households can use 2020 income or current income to prove eligibility;

  • Must prove they are experiencing a financial hardship directly or indirectly due to the COVID-19 outbreak;
  • Must prove they are at risk of experiencing homelessness or currently experiencing housing instability

Rental assistance provided to an eligible household cannot duplicate any other federally funded rental assistance provided to the household. Eligible households that be prioritized for assistance
